In 1989, the Foundation for International Community Assistance (FINCA) opened its doors to the Honduran people as an NGO. Honduras became the second country in Latin America where FINCA implemented village banking, reaching thousands of people with a great need to obtain capital for their businesses and be successful.
In 2007 FINCA Honduras became a Financial Institution serving a wide portfolio of clients with both individual and group loans.
Currently FH is regulated by the National Commission of Banks and Insurance (Comisión Nacional de Banca y Seguros) to accept deposits, and works in both rural and urban areas through is 14 branches located throughout the country.
